IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alexander "Alec"
Wallace
September 21, 1930 – October 29, 2019
ALEXANDER "ALEC" WALLACE, age 89, died on October 29, 2019 at Fairview Hospital. Alec was born in Paisley, Scotland on September 21, 1930, to Sarah (nee Green) and Alexander Wallace. Alec began his apprenticeship as an electrician at the age of 14. At the age of 16, he met Nancy, his wife of 67 years, at the hockey rink in Paisley where Alec played for the semi-professional team, the Paisley Wildcats. In 1951, the two emigrated to Toronto, Canada. They moved to Cleveland in 1953, where Alec worked for 37 years at Ford Motor Company, from which he retired in 1990. Although, or maybe because, he grew up during the Battle of Britain, Alec loved life and having fun. Alec enjoyed hockey, golf, soccer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and most of all, his family. He will be remembered for his quick wit; his transition from stern father to doting grandfather to even more doting great-grandfather; and his thick Scottish brogue, incomprehensible to many even 65 years after arriving in America. In recent years, he has been spending his winters in Ozona, Florida, watching the sun set with friends on his dock overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Alec was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Margaret, and his brother, Tom. Alec is survived by his wife, Nancy (nee Farrell); his children: James Wallace, and Patricia Koran (Robert); his grandchildren: Alexis Koran, Elizabeth Koran (John Geekie), Max Koran (Mary), and Mona Corcoran (Kevin); and his much-adored great-grandchildren: Eloise and Fiona Corcoran. A private service will be held at a later date.
