ANNE GRISWOLD (nee Gallagher) age 93, was a remarkable woman. Born in Dooagh, Achill, County Mayo, Ireland during the Great Depression, Anne was one of 13 children of Mary and Michael "The Iceburg" Gallagher (both deceased). When Anne emigrated to the United States at the age of 19, she carried with her a fierce loyalty to her Irish heritage, which she passed on to her 10 children.

Mother to David Jr. (Esther), Michael (Patricia), Maureen Taylor (Jeffery), Ann Petersen (Whitley "Bill"), Sean (Ona), Desmond (Cindy), Kelly Diamond, and Brian (Michelle). Anne was preceded in death by her sons Brendan (Cindi) and Donald. Sister of Theresa, Kathleen "Celine", Anthony "Tony" and Patricia. She was preceded in death by siblings Mary, Thomas "Tommy", Bridget, Patrick "Pat", Michael "Michael Joe", Margaret, Veronica, and Henry. She was a grandmother of 35, great-grandmother of many, and will be missed by her large, extended family including many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anne's life was devoted to her family and the Catholic faith. A strong supporter of education, it was important to her that her children went to Catholic schools. She was very quick witted and passed on her great sense of humor to her children. For Anne, the simplest pleasures in life - visiting with her siblings and their families, baking a fresh loaf of Irish soda bread, talking with young children and seeing baby animals, brought her joy and a smile to her face.  Her passing was peaceful, surrounded in love, with her children telling stories and reminiscing about her childhood home in Ireland.

Funeral service Wednesday, Sep 27th, at 12:00 noon in the CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED,29150 LORAIN RD. AT  STEARNS , where friends may call 11:00 AM UNTIL TIME OF SERVICE. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
