IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara L.
Ladd
March 25, 1943 – May 29, 2023
BARBARA L. LADD (nee Bundus) age 80, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023 with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Roger Ladd. Survived by daughter Denise Manak (Pat) of Bay Village, son David Ladd (Lori) of Portland, Oregon; Grandsons Jack Manak, Luke Manak and Jacob Ladd; sister Karen Miller (Jack); Sisters-in-law Sally Ladd and Dorothy Santa Maria; nieces and nephews John Miller, Amy Brewer, Greg Ladd, Rob Ladd, Susan Ladd and Michael Santa Maria.
Barb was born and raised in Chardon, later settling in Fairview Park to raise her family. She loved her work as a school secretary for Fairview Park City Schools, especially her time spent at Coffinberry. An avid animal and dog lover, there was nothing that she enjoyed more than a quiet evening at home with the dog by her side, a scotch in hand, watching her beloved Cleveland Indians, Browns or Cavs.
She had a feisty quick wit, always telling it like it was. She enjoyed countless traditions over the years – family holiday gatherings; making bratwurst with Karen annually; multiple trips to Louisville; spring breaks in Siesta Key; neighborhood block parties & gatherings; tennis nights with the girls; and countless sleepovers with her grandsons when they were young.
We are forever indebted to family, neighbors and friends whose unwavering love and support is second-to-none. To the amazing memory care team at Vitalia Westlake, THANK YOU. You are angels on Earth, working tirelessly to provide love and guidance to those who can no longer navigate life on their own. You make everyone feel valued and unique, and that is truly a gift.
We are extremely grateful for Michelle Payne, Barb's steadfast and compassionate sidekick, who provided her with loving care during these last few years. Her kindness and grace extend far beyond what words can express.
During Barb's final days, she rested to the fitting lyrics of one of her favorite songs, Run for the Roses: "And it's run for the roses, as fast as you can; Your fate is delivered, your moment's at hand; It's the chance of a lifetime, in a lifetime of chance; And It's high time you joined in the dance… It's something unknown that drives you and carries you home." Fly high, mom.
Barb preferred quiet to crowds. To honor her wishes, there will be no formal service. Her final resting place will be next to Roger at Sunset Memorial.
