BARBARA ANN SLOVAK (nee Kmetz) age 85. Beloved mother, nana, and friend, went home to her Lord Jesus Friday, February 7, after a long illness.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John Kmetz and Barbara (Perko) Kmetz, her husband of 50 years Milan and firstborn son Timothy. Her siblings, Leah, Steve, and John also preceded her in death.

Barbara is survived by four children Milan Slovak (Diana), Ann Coulter (Ron), Karen Slovak (John Martin), and Lori Zaremba (Darin). She is mourned by ten grandchildren: Milan Samuel Slovak, Kaila Slovak, Rachel Spaudie (Elliot), Sara Coulter (Tyler), Timothy Coulter (Taran), Elizabeth Coulter, Benjamin Martin, Addison Martin, Alli Day (Zeke), and Mitchell Zaremba.

Nana's great-granchildren are: Noah Spaudie, Julian Spaudie, Hazel Kujawa, Oliver Kujawa, Joanna Coulter, and Brooke Coulter.

Barbara was born January 26, 1940, in Lakewood. A life-long Lutheran, she was baptized and confirmed at Pentecost Lutheran Church in Lakewood. She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Rocky River for the last fifty years of her life. She loved her Savior and her family and devoted her 85 years faithfully to her many vocations. One of her great joys was passing on her family Christmas traditions, teaching the children and grandchildren the recipes for Slovak pastries and serving a traditional Slovak Christmas Eve dinner.

Funeral Service Wednesday, February 12, St. Thomas Lutheran Church (21211 Detroit Rd. Rocky River, OH) at 10:00 AM. Interment Lutheran Cemetery.  Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD.
