IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brian Thomas
"Griz" Griswold
June 15, 1967 – November 14, 2025
Brian Thomas "Griz" Griswold, 58, passed away on November 14, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina. Born on June 15, 1967, in North Olmsted, Ohio, Brian lived a life marked by service, pride in his heritage, and deep devotion to his family and fellow Veterans.
Brian was raised in North Olmsted, Ohio attending St. Richard School and St. Edward High School before graduating from North Olmsted High School. He later pursued higher education at Cleveland State University for a short time before joining the Navy.
Answering the call to serve his country, Brian enlisted in the United States Navy where he became a proud member of the Seabees (BU). Over the course of 19 years, he served both as a builder and as a Navy recruiter—roles that reflected his strong work ethic and passion for mentoring others. His commitment to military service extended well beyond active duty. After his service in the Navy, Brian continued to support others through his civilian career as a Talent Acquisition Partner for health care and insurance companies. His ability to connect with people and guide them toward meaningful careers was an extension of his generous spirit.
Brian's contributions to the Veteran community were profound. He remained deeply involved with fellow service members through organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion. He embraced his role as a mentor and advocate for other Veterans, offering guidance and camaraderie with unwavering loyalty. In recognition of his service and dedication, he was honored with a Quilt of Valor by Prisma Health—a tribute that symbolized the respect he earned from those around him.
Known affectionately as "Griz," Brian was loved by many for his kindness, generosity, and steadfast loyalty. He could always be counted on to lend a hand without hesitation.
Proud of his Irish Catholic roots, Brian carried his heritage with reverence throughout his life. He found strength in faith and tradition, values that shaped his character. Above all else, Brian cherished his family. He is survived by his daughter Lauren Wesoloski (Victor); son Connor Griswold; and beloved granddaughter Adeline Wesoloski. His love for them was boundless and evident in every aspect of his life.
Brian also leaves behind a large and loving extended family: sisters Maureen Taylor (Jeff), Ann Petersen (Bill), and Kelly Diamond (his twin); his brothers David Jr. (Esther), Michael (Patty), Sean (Ona), Desmond Griswold (Cindy); along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He now joins those who preceded him in death: his parents Anne Griswold (née Gallagher) and David Griswold Sr.; brothers Brendan Griswold (Cindi) and Donald Griswold.
A celebration of life and service will be announced once the family has had the time to make the proper arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a Veterans Charity/Association and/or the FAVOR Upstate program in his honor.
