CHARLOTTE A. BANASIK

CHARLOTTE A. BANASIK (nee Stuart), age 79, beloved wife of 58 years to Edward M.; loving mother of Paul (Kelly) and Cathy Secaur (Jeremy); proud Grandma of Chesney, Severin, Cora and Violet; sister of the late Patricia Campbell. Peacefully passed away June 17, 2026 while holding her husband’s hand.

Charlotte was one of the most giving individuals on earth. Despite her college degree from Ursuline College and her math proficiency she dedicated her life to helping others. She totally invested in her family all her life and started becoming a true volunteer as her children progressed through school. She read library books to kindergarten students at St. Mel elementary school. As her own children progressed through high school she became involved with the Mother’s clubs at St. Edward and Magnificat high schools. She became the Mother’s club president at St. Edward in the late 1980s. After her children began their college studies Charlotte became involved with Lakewood hospital’s transport volunteer group. She often said that the best assignment was to be able to wheel new mothers and their babies out to the fathers pulling up the cars in the driveway. After twenty years at that pursuit Charlotte shifted gears and became the “lunch lady” serving lunches to the patients receiving chemotherapy for cancer in the Moll Cancer Center at Fairview hospital. Since Charlotte had actually been a patient at that same facility in 2004 and now was cured she was able to give moral support to those patients who were losing hope for recovery. The twelve years that Charlotte spent there were some of her most gratifying moments. Unfortunately COVID-19 put an end to her volunteer career by stopping all hospital volunteer work and she deeply missed the interaction.

Charlotte was an avid reader, loved to garden, take walks, and be outside, She enjoyed biking (no e-bikes) on rail trails and she and her husband loved to travel. Her kitchen skills were well developed and she really enjoyed baking - especially some of the old Slovak recipes. Charlotte also developed quite a passion for photography which she used to great advantage during all of her travels.

Charlotte believed in teaching by example. She taught everyone who ever was lucky enough to spend some time with her to be kind, compassionate, determined, organized, generous and giving.

Funeral Mass Wednesday, June 24, St. Mark Church (15800 Montrose Ave., Cleveland) at 10 A.M. Interment Thursday Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND, 4420 ROCKY RIVER DR. AT PURITAS, TUESDAY 4-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
