DAVID MURRAY BELL, M.D., age 91, of Westlake, Ohio.  Most beloved husband for 63 years of Marlene (nee Stanford); dear father of David M. Bell, Jr. (Colegate), Susan Bell Adams (Richard), Julie A. Bell (Lori), and Daniel M. Bell (Melissa). Dearest "Bumpa" of Parker, Jordan, Jared, John, and Caroline Bell and "Great-Bumpa" to Emmeline and George Bell; brother of the late Richard P. Bell, M.D. of Lakewood, Ohio and the late Joan Bell Newman of Ft. Worth, Texas. Son of Richard P. Bell, M.D., and Marion Dunham Bell; uncle to many nieces and nephews. David grew up in Clifton Park but made the trip across town to attend University School in Shaker Heights, followed by Kenyon College and Western Reserve Medical School. After his internship at City Hospital of Cleveland, David served as a Captain in the US Air Force in Wichita Falls, Texas. Upon returning to Cleveland, David completed his residency at University Hospital and shortly thereafter founded Orthopaedic Associates in Lakewood, Ohio where he specialized in Sports Medicine. In recognition of his contributions, the Rehabilitation Center at Orthopaedic Associates has been named in his honor. David was a member of the American Academy of Sports Medicine and in 2005 was inducted into the Cleveland Clinic Pillars of Medicine Society recognizing a physician's exemplary commitment to medicine, CCF hospitals and local communities. David had a passion for athletics and excelled at any sport he played. He was inducted into the Kenyon Athletic Association Hall of Fame in recognition of the nine varsity letters earned during his four year college career. For decades on Fall Friday nights, he could be found on the sidelines at various high school football games as the team doctor. He was a member of Westwood Country Club for 67 years and club champion four times. Later in life, he and Marlene relocated to Naples, Florida where David continued his passion for golf as a member of Colliers Reserve Country Club and where he also became involved with Habitat for Humanity, using his gifted hands to build homes throughout the Naples area. David was a kind and gentle man, compassionate to all he cared for throughout his long and successful career. Above all else, he was devoted to his wife and family, and an inspiration to all who loved him. His absence will be felt by many. David passed away July 6, 2020 surrounded by his family. Private Church service due to COVID-19 restrictions at St. Peter Episcopal Church Saturday, July 11, at 11 A.M. which will be livestreamed on the Chambers Funeral Homes Facebook page.  Interment Lakewood Park Cemetery (22025 Detroit Rd., Rocky River) at 12:15 P.M. open to friends with reception to follow.
