HERRON, age 84, beloved husband of 26 yrs to Filomena (nee Cavallo), father of Deacon Robert Herron (Tracy), Phillip Herron (Gina), Scott Herron, Daniel Herron, and Gina Marie Spencer (Chris); proud grandpa of Matthew Herron (Lauren), Andrew Herron, Caroline Janosky (Kyle), Alyssa Herron, and Timothy Spencer; great grandpa of 3 with 2 on the way; brother of Thomas (Jeanne), Judi Sahlica (John), and Marty (Peggy); uncle and great uncle of many. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 20, 2025. Relatives and friends are invited to meet for his Funeral Mass WEDNESDAY, JULY 2, St. Brendan Church (4242 Brendan Lane NorthOlmsted) at 10 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
David retired from Keycorp (formerly Society Corporation) after more than 35 years of employment, where he took on roles of increasing responsibility, starting as a management trainee and working his way up to the position of senior vice president. However, his business acumen was formed years earlier, while working at the family business – Herron's Ice Cream Company, started by his grandfather Albert Herron. People still approach the family with fond memories of Herron's signature ice cream creation – Foursomes!
Born in Lakewood and spending his early years there and in North Olmsted, he had loving memories of growing up surrounded by his parents, siblings and extended family. His parents instilled in him a strong love of family and faith. He was a proud 1959 graduate of St.Edward High School, and furthered his education at Ohio State University and the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking.
David had a knack for telling humorous stories from the past that kept his family laughing. Those memories, and many others, will now be cherished by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
