DEBBIE NAOMI REGENSBURG HAVILAND passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Born on August 19, 1952, to Carrie (Koch) and Lester Regensburg, she grew up in Stratford, New Jersey, with her older brother, Gary. Debbie spent many happy hours playing in the Stratford Diner, owned by her family.

From a young age, Debbie discovered a lifelong passion for music, particularly for playing the French horn. This passion led her to a life dedicated to learning, teaching, and performing. She attended Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music and Cleveland State University, where she earned a BA in Music Education and a Master's in Music Performance.

On October 19, 1974, Debbie married Timothy Haviland, and together they built a life full of love, family, and world-traveling adventures. Together, they explored their history and found wonder in the world.

Throughout her life, Debbie achieved so much and touched countless lives through her work. She was a dedicated music educator and began her career as a substitute teacher in various schools. moving up to run a regional  branch of Music on the move to bring music to private schools with Akron Public Schools, and she also served . She often said that her favorite age range to teach was middle school, as she found that music could provide a much-needed distraction or even change the lives of students at their most insecure and confused age.

A proud member of the American Federation of Musicians, Cleveland Local 4, and Mansfield Local 159. Debbie also performed with the Ashland Symphony Orchestra for 20 years, the Chagrin Falls Studio Orchestra, and the Wolf Creek Brass Quintet and so many more. playing was her purest joy.  Her community involvement extended beyond music; she was a boys' T-ball coach for Oakwood Village and served as a Ward 4 council member in Oakwood Village.

Along with her husband Tim,  Debbie leaves behind her children, Josh (Jen), Leah (Robbie), and Ben and her grandchildren, Lillie, Timmy, and Mara. She would move mountains for any one of  them. Her love for her family was endless.

She will be remembered for her musical talent, her love of the French horn, her passion for education and music, as an avid world traveler, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Wish her love as she rejoins the universe.
