TOGETHER AGAIN...

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather extraordinaire, Dennis Eaton Weyhe, Sr., DDS , passed away peacefully at St. Mary of the Woods in Avon, Ohio on June 29, 2020, at the age of 87.

Dennis was the second of two sons and was born on August 3, 1932, to the late Edward L. and Estelle (Bahs) Weyhe, in Detroit, Michigan.

After graduating from the University of Detroit in 1954, Dennis headed to St. Louis University to begin preparing for what would be a successful dental career spanning 40 plus years. On August 20, 1955, Dennis wed his college sweetheart and wife of 64 years, the late Barbara L. (Nevens) Weyhe. In 1958 Dennis began a dental internship with the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Major before receiving an honorable discharge in 1965. He looked back fondly throughout his life on his military experience and was thankful for the opportunities it provided, especially the time spent living in Germany.

A reserved, kind, and good-natured person with a dry sense of humor, Dennis enjoyed his fellow Lorain County Dental Society members, several of whom were golfing buddies or fishing partners. He deeply valued his many loyal patients over the years, and is also remembered for the generous dental care he provided to the local community of Catholic nuns and priests. He had a wanderlust that he satisfied with many adventures, such as taking his wife and five children on cross-country motor home trips; arranging fishing expeditions with his sons and grandsons to Canada; and hosting his children and young grandchildren in the Bahamas, where he and Barbara enjoyed spending the winter months. We will all fondly remember his preferred nickname of "Mr. Wonderful," and his love of a dry gin martini as a fitting conclusion to a marvelous day!

Dennis was dearly loved, not only by his wife, but by his children: Dennis Weyhe, Jr. (Nancy), Nancy Wellener (Paul), Kathleen Diederich (Greg), Mark Weyhe, and Patricia Williamson (Marc); and 12 grandchildren: David, Scott, and Erica Weyhe; Shannon Testa; Lesley, Haley, and Carly Wellener; Brian (Shelagh), Kate, and Amy Diederich; and William and Daphne Williamson.
