DIANE M. THRASHER (nee Kasson) (formerly Connare), age 84, beloved wife of the late Robert W. Thrasher II, sister of Sharlene Hopkins, mother of Kathleen M. Sammon (JD), step-mother of Robert W. Thrasher III (Jennifer), Debra Yantek (Andrew), and Donald Thrasher (Sonja); former mother-in-law of Margaret Thrasher; grandmother of Jessica Thrasher, Jeanne Miller (JC), Kate Yantek, Daniel Sammon, Megan Lovell (Mark), Clay Yantek (Alayna), Michael Sammon (Kabao) and Shannon Thrasher; step-grandmother of Heather Romano and the late Jamie Romano; great-grandmother of Leo, Jillian, LillyAnne, Jackson, Jameson, Cayden and Bryson; aunt of Jason, Amy and Matt Hopkins. Diane was employed by The Plain Dealer for 37 years where she worked in the Classified Department and was the Supervisor of the Verifying Department.

An avid Cleveland sports fan, Diane was regularly seen in The Plain Dealer loge attending games of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians for decades. Diane never missed an Opening Day game during her tenure at The Plain Dealer. She treasured the championships of the Cleveland sports teams. As a longtime resident of The Fairmont of Westlake, she was known for being the most energetic sports fan. Diane was an avid reader, and she loved her grandchildren and would spend countless hours having an open book forum with them discussing various authors and book reviews.

Passed away suddenly on May 11, 2026. Funeral Mass Saturday, May 16, St. Patrick Church (West Park) at 9:30 A.M. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND, 4420 ROCKY RIVER DR. AT PURITAS, FRIDAY 4-7 P.M.
