It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Douglas Henry Barr, on March 27,2020 at the age of 68. He was the beloved Husband of Elaine(nee Johnson); loving Father of Adam (Natsuko) and David ( Amy); cherished grandfather of Mika, Kana, Coraline and Thea. Doug was preceded in death by his Parents, Henry and Margaret Barr and brothers Bruce and Stewart. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Doug is survived by a sister, Kristen and brother, Gordon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Doug graduated from Midpark High School in 1969. He attended Ashland College where he studied mathematics and psychology and Rochester Institute of Technology where he graduated with degrees in photo science, photography and business management. He was the owner and President of Ohio School Pictures until his retirement. He was always willing to pass along his knowledge and enjoyed mentoring young people who had a passion for business or photography. Doug was a man of many interests. He was an avid collector of Japanese art, antiques, and cars. He enjoyed collecting and repairing clocks. He was an enthusiastic sportsman and especially loved long distance biking. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. Doug was a member of the Japanese Art Society, Cleveland Print Club, St. John West Shore Hospital Board, University Hospital Art Board, Hill and Dale, and various other car and professional clubs. He loved life and cherished his family.

Please join the Barr family for a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the Westlake United Methodist Church (27650 Center Ridge Rd., Westlake) at 11 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doug's memory can be sent to Westlake United Methodist Church and the American Heart Association.
