Edgar Lee Smith, 78, of Olmsted Township, entered eternal rest on July 30, 2011. He was born on August 7, 1932, in Haywood, WV, to Alta Belle (Martin) and Fred Logan Smith, Sr. He graduated from Victory High School in Clarksburg WV and Salem College. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Princeton. He retired from Van Dorn in 1994. He is survived by his bride of 53 years, Nancy Kay (Williams), daughter Kim (Ed) Botke of North Olmsted, son Kevin (Sharon) Smith of Muncie IN; grandchildren Nathan, Katie, and Kevin Botke and Kristen, Jonathan, and Katherine Smith; and siblings Frank Smith, Fred Smith Jr., and Alta Peet. A funeral service will be held on Friday August 5 at North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church, 5665 Great Northern Blvd., at noon. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME 29150 LORAIN RD. Mr. Smith bequeathed to his family and friends an extraordinary work ethic, an indomitable will to survive, a joyful remembrance of his gentle orneriness, and a life that clearly manifested the grace of God.
