IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward J.
Presley
February 13, 1936 – September 1, 2025
EDWARD J. PRESLEY, age 89, beloved husband of 69 years to Jeannette (nee Krietzer); loving father of Mike (Mary), Dave (Kathy), Steve (Karen), Alan, and Karen Veselic (Eric); proud grandfather of 13; brother of the late Alice Beller and Isabelle Presley. Passed away September 1, 2025. U.S. Army veteran.
From grade school where he first met the love of his life, to the umpire fields of Westlake, and the cheering stands of countless family sporting events, Edward J. Presley's journey was one rich in love, service, and devotion.
Born February 13, 1936, Ed grew up in Cleveland, where he attended St. Stephen's, St. Ignatius, and later West Tech. After three years in the U.S. Army as a German linguist, he began a career in banking that spanned four decades, rising from teller to Vice President of Public Funds.
But Ed's proudest legacy was not his career—it was the life he built with Jeannette, his wife of 69 years. Together, they raised five children—Mike (Mary), Dave (Kathy), Steve (Karen), Alan, and Karen Veselic (Eric)—and watched their family grow to include 13 grandchildren. He now joins his grandson, Dylan, in eternal rest.
Sports were woven into Ed's life story. He was a lifelong Browns fan who bought PSL seats for his family, an umpire and referee who founded the Westlake Umpires Association, and a father who rarely missed a game, especially the spirited "Holy War" matchups. His passion for sports carried into his role as grandfather, instilling that same enthusiasm in the next generation.
When he wasn't at a game, Ed loved traveling with Jeannette—particularly to Niagara-on-the-Lake, local craft fairs, and the theater. His presence, quick wit, and loyalty will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 5, at 11 A.M. at St. Bernadette Church, 2256 Clague Rd., Westlake, with entombment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon.
