EDWIN A. GRENKOSKI, age 87, passed away on August 18, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Joanne (nee Nichols); father of Mark (Carolyn), Sue Riolo (Ken), Deb O'Keefe (Pat), Carol Cleary (Sean), James (Tracey) and the late Jeff Grenkoski; grandfather of 11; great grandfather of one; brother of Mary Margaret Slachta and the late Dorothy Dietzel and Kathryn Grenkoski; uncle of many.
Ed was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Alex and Sally (nee Burcyzk) Grenkoski. He graduated from Saginaw High School in 1945. He enrolled at the University of Michigan and played freshman football before serving in the United States Armed Forces from March 1946 to September 1947. He returned to the University of Michigan earning letters in baseball in 1949 and 1950. While continuing his college education he played professional baseball with the New York Yankees from 1951-1954. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1952 and his masters in business administration in 1954. He retired from Dow Chemical Company after 30 years of service before starting his own business ConMat Sales. He enjoyed all sports, but his love was baseball.
