Edwin D. Gross, 93, beloved husband of the late Marlene J. (nee Zmina), Dorothy (deceased) passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Albert W. and Dorothy E. (nee Lynch).
Loving father of Donald Gross (Leslie), Sheree Hunter (Paul Demas), Robert Gross (Barbara), Kimberly Kimball (deceased), Sandra Ramsey (Gary).
Grandfather of Adam Gross, Erin Ferreras (Sam), Ashlee McDaniel (Adam), Anna Roach (Travis), Henry Gross, Laura Gross (Will Burnson), Amanda DeGidio (Nick), Candice Neubert, Bryan Neubert, Kayla DiFranco (Jose Gonzalez), Samantha Beavers (Ryan).
Great Grandfather of Alayna, Tristin, Camila, Riley, Evan, Norah, Monica (Anthony), Leah (Dominic), Alex, Madisyn, Mollie, Myles, Remington, Lorelai.
Great, Great Grandfather of Sawyer.
Loving brother of Nancy Bertleff (Jim), Albert Gross (deceased) and Kenneth Gross (Lynn). Uncle and great uncle of many. Longtime friend of George and Betty Mehalic.
He graduated from Concordia High School in Ft. Wayne, IN and Dyke College, Cleveland, OH with majors in Accounting and Finance.
Edwin served his country honorably in the U.S. Army 1952-1954, Private First Class, stationed in Germany, where he worked as an X-ray Technician and received an Occupational Medal (Germany) and National Defense Service Medal for service during the Korean War.
Employed by Dun & Bradstreet for 33 years, Edwin retired in1993.
Edwin will be fondly remembered for his love and keen knowledge of sports especially baseball, football and basketball. His favorite hometown teams included Cleveland Indians/ Guardians, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers along with The Ohio State Buckeyes and local High School teams. He had an incredible memory of major and minor league team and individual player statistics. His favorite players included Ken Keltner, Rocky Colavito, Jerry Lucas, Pete Maravich and Jim Brown with a special memory of attending the Cleveland Browns championship game with his father in 1964.
He also played basketball and softball on various recreational, work and church leagues.
With respect to Edwin's request, a private graveside burial service only will be held at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, South Euclid.
Edwin's family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to his care team from Hospice of the Western Reserve and the entire staff at Danbury, North Ridgeville for their excellent care, compassion and kindness.
