IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth A.
Koenig
September 29, 1940 – January 27, 2025
ELIZABETH A. "BETTY" KOENIG (nee Brady) age 84, went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2025. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, James Bronson and Constance (nee Ticknor) Brady, her father-in-law, Frank J. Koenig, Sr and Mother-in-law, Mary Koenig (nee Moran), her brother William Brady, and her sisters-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Slattery (nee Koenig), Kathleen Hines (nee Koenig), Joan Colwell (nee Koenig), Coletta Koenig (nee Lehmann), brother-in-law, Edward T. Koenig, and cousin Larry Soeder.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Frank J. Koenig, Jr., children:Karen Koenig, Michael Koenig (Jackie Steitz), Tim and Courtney Koenig, Jim Koenig, and Katie (Tom) Capel. Grandmother of Brittany, Michael, Shaleene, Brianna, Jacob, Carson, Grace, Samantha, Lily, Liam and Brady. Aunt to many.
Betty graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1958 and then attended Central School of Practical Nursing Program and graduated with her LPN licensure. Betty had a servants heart and touched many people's lives through her selflessness, unconditional love and giving spirit.
Sports was one of Betty's passions both playing and coaching. Along with being an LPN, Betty has been a Girl Scout Leader, Coach, Substitute gym teacher and the biggest cheering section to her husband, kids and grandkids. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She also loved cards and playing games. Tuesday night cards has been a tradition for over 20 years with different participants, most recently being Betty, Frank, Sheila Delzani and her niece Meg Colwell.
Betty was not one who ever wanted to be in the spotlight. She was behind the scenes woman who wanted no credit or attention. She was the wife and mom in the background making sure that her husband, kids and grandkids were excelling and shining. Juggling and shouldering the responsibility. She was happiest when she was making everyone's dreams possible. She did this by decorating Frank's classroom at school, sewing, doing arts and crafts, and shuttling her kids to and from all of their singouts and activities. She also organized Barbershop raffles, coached sports teams, was a Girl Scout leader, was a substitute gym teacher at St. Mark's, taught Confirmation classes, and ran the Church's blood mobile.
Betty never quit, it wasn't in her vocabulary, she fought the fight until the end. Her love was always felt and was unconditional. She met each challenge with strength, courage, determination and her strong faith in God. In 2013, Betty was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and she fought the affliction with the same faith, grace, determination and manner as she always did. She never let it hold her back. She never said "why me" or complained.
Betty will be greatly missed, she touched so many lives throughout her journey in life on this earth, but her legacy carries on through her husband, children and grandchildren.
