ELMER JOSEPH KHAL, age 83, passed away June 7, 2021.  Proud Clevelander, Retired Lieutenant of the Cleveland Fire Dept., son of Joseph and Irene Khal (nee Kramer).  Beloved husband of Maureen Walsh Khal.  Dearest father of Kathleen Bohannon, Elaine Michelich (Rob), Joseph Elmer (deceased), Andrea Scaggs (Larry) and step-daughters Traci Neligan (John Burke) and Patricia Neligan (Isaac Barley).  Loving Grandpa and Papa of David Bohannon; Kevin and Nicole Allen; Hannah, Jack, Molly, Michael and Luke Burke; Ronan, Emmet and Owen Barley; Great Papa of Emersyn Bohannon.  Dear brother of Flo D'Alessio (Dominic, deceased), Dee Stainbrook (Bill deceased), Lenore Piatak (Paul) and many nieces and nephews.

Elmer was formerly president of IAFF Local 93, Cleveland Firefighter's Union and longtime trustee of Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund in Columbus, Ohio; past president of the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems in Washington, D.C.; and past Board Director of Firefighters Community Credit Union. He was also a former Cuyahoga County Fire Marshall and lifetime Brother Knights of Columbus.  U.S. Army veteran.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet for his Funeral Mass Friday, June 11, St. Colman Church (2027 W. 65 ^th St., Cleveland 44102) at 10:30 A.M.  Interment Monday, June 14, Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery (Seville, OH).  Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS RD., THURSDAY 3-7 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to MetroHealth Medical Center, St. Colman Church or Alzheimer's Association.
