EUGENE R. DRAP, age 90, of North Olmsted, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2026.

Born on March 12, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, Gene was raised with strong family values and a deep sense of dedication to both faith and work. He attended St. Ignatius High School, later graduating from John Carroll University. After college, Gene enlisted in the United States Army and served as an officer, stationed in Hawaii.

Gene spent the first part of his professional life working for the Cleveland–Pittsburgh Line trucking company, a business founded by his father. This work sparked a lifelong passion for trucks, which he expressed through an impressive collection of die-cast model trucks. He also had a great love for movies and was an avid collector of VHS tapes and later DVD box sets. Gene worked most of his career as an accountant for Village Originals, jewelry and gemstone stores. Even in his 90th year, Gene continued working, filing through the last season of his career—an enduring testament to his strong work ethic.

He was a devoted member of St. Richard’s Catholic Church in North Olmsted, faithfully attending the 4:30pm Saturday mass. He was Cleveland sports enthusiast.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Mary Matik Drap, and his sister, Arlene Drap Barton.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; his son, Eric R. Drap (Nettie) of Coral Springs, Florida; his daughter, Katherine M. Caniglia (Robert) of Seven Hills, Ohio; his cherished grandchildren, Emily and Christin Caniglia, and Sienna and Lucianna Drap; his brother-in-law, Ronald G. Barton of Hurricane, West Virginia; and his niece, Alyson D. Poppiti (Primus) of Wilmington, Delaware.

Funeral Mass Tuesday, February 10, St. Richard Church, (26855 Lorain Road) at 11:00 AM.
