Her last weeks were filled with numerous family visits, phone chats and video calls with family assuring her that she was loved and valued. We assured her that it was alright to join loved ones on the other side. Ava knew that she would be greeted in heaven by her parents, sister Lola, husbands Tom and Bernie, son Kevin and infant son Thomas and many beloved extended family and friends.
Ava's Catholic faith and family were extremely important to her. She recited The Rosary daily.
Ava made friends wherever she went including at Hudson Grande where she most recently lived. She introduced Rummy cube and new card games at the center and thereby created new friendships. She was an avid reader who shared plots with family and friends.
Ava was an outstanding, energetic mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend to many. She never lost her sense of humor. In her younger years, Ava created many smiles with her volunteering and generosity. Ava was a talented gardener, seamstress, knitter/crochet artist and baker. Many lucky family members and friends were the recipients of hand-made items that are still treasured.
Ava provided a great example of generosity and authentic love. She often asked "Why am I still here?" these past few years. Please say a prayer for our mom and perform a good deed today in her honor.
