IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gail A.
Moran
June 27, 1952 – April 2, 2025
GAIL A. MORAN (nee Higgins) Beloved wife of 49 years to Thomas (deceased); loving mother of Rachael Lu (Cyrus), Melissa Moran, and Aileen Krauss (Erik); proudest grandmother of Emerson, Caroline and Juliet; cherished sister of John Higgins; dear friend, aunt, and teacher of many. Passed away suddenly surrounded by love and family on April 2, 2025.
Gail had a love for family. She built a strong foundation that exemplified love, sacrifice, and support. She loved to spend time with her daughters, going on adventures and celebrating anything. She was the strongest woman and raised her daughters to be strong women. When her grandchildren were born, everything changed. She found true happiness actively participating in Emerson, Caroline, and Juliet's lives: cheering for Emerson at soccer, teaching Caroline how to crochet, baking with Juliet, reading to them, congratulating them, comforting them, and encouraging them. Gail poured her heart into creating a loving and nurturing environment and always assured that her family felt the warmth of her care and affection. She was the best mother and Grandma.
Gail had a love for teaching. When Aileen was 3 years old, Gail returned to teaching 7th and 8th grade science at Incarnate Word Academy. She loved science and was passionate about teaching. Gail inspired curiosity and passion in her students with science fairs, science experiments, engaging lectures, and relationship building.
Gail had a love for learning. She would read to her daughters from the day they came home from the hospital. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of education for personal growth as well as being a responsible citizen. Through her quest for lifelong learning, Gail obtained her bachelor'sdegree in teaching at Notre Dame College of Ohio, and several masters degrees in education. She enjoyed debating recent books she read as well as current events.
In addition to Gail's love of family, teaching and learning, she epitomized being a "Renaissance Woman." She loved gardening and her garden was not only her sanctuary, but a testament to her commitment to the earth. She loved camping and sharing her love of nature with her family. She loved creativity and could draw, paint, sew, create woodwork, and could realize any vision. Gail was generous with her creativity and would use her talents for her church, friends, and family. Gail could fix any problem she applied herself to, regularly achieving home makeover projects that are only seen on HGTV. She loved animals, most recently her yorkie Darby. She loved her church and was a passionate advocate and supporter of St. Colman Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Gail loved her friends and neighbors, regularly bringing empathy and generosity to her relationships. Gail loved music, particularly Cat Stevens, the Beatles, and Motown. She loved to sing off key loudly even when she did not know all of the words. She loved the arts and history, and regularly immersed herself in trips to museums, plays, dance performances, and historical places. Gail loved to laugh. She had a laugh that was loud and infectious and was always looking to share her joy and laughter.
Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, her former students, and all those whose lives she touched with her intelligence, generosity, laughter, passion, and kindness.
