Gary Easter, 77 of North Olmsted, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Gary will be remembered for his unconditional selflessness, strong work ethic, and unwavering dedication to those he cared about most. Throughout his life, he brought warmth, humor, and steadfast support to his friends, neighbors, and family.

A proud service member of US Airforce and retired officer of the Lakewood Police Department, Gary dedicated much of his life to serving and protecting others. He was a D.A.R.E officer and School Resource Officer who impacted elementary, middle, and high school students throughout Lakewood. Many of whom still acknowledge the positive impact he had on their lives. As a die-hard runner, Gary was also the co-founder of Hermes Race Systems, where his passion, leadership, and commitment became synonymous with Cleveland running. After retirement, Gary continued as a bailiff working at Lakewood Court for Judge Patrick Carroll. Additionally, he stayed busy as a driving instructor at 911 Driving School.

Gary cherished spending time with family and enjoyed life’s simple pleasures — especially a glass of bourbon and a good cigar. He made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy will live on through the countless memories shared by those who loved him.

Gary’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by Mary (nee Hatton), his loving wife of 54 years; his children, Amanda Rossi (Dan) and Michael (Amanda); and his cherished grandchildren, Jack, Max, Abby, Landon, and Lucas. He is survived by his brother, Scott Easter (Cal Loy) and his sister, Shannon. Also, brothers and sisters-in-law James Hatton (Candace), Anne Feys (John), Tom Hatton, Bob Hatton (Ana), Louise Connors (Pat), Joan Vichill (Erik) and Rick (Linda). Also, cousin Sandy Disbro (Larry). Gary was also deeply loved by 18 nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by countless family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. Gary is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Delilas (nee Byerley) Easter.

Gary’s presence, amazing sense of humor, guidance, and compassion will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.
