GEORGIA L. WINTRICK (nee Porostovsky), age 82, of North Royalton, OH, devoted wife of the late David L.; loving mother of Lynnette DeSantis (deceased), David (Lisa) and Matthew (Jennifer); proud grandmother of Alex (Courtney), Michael and Elyse (Kyle Wilson) and great-grandmother of Elias and Elle; sister of the Allan Porostovsky, Norman Porostovsky and Patrice Batten.  Passed away January 8, 2024.  Relatives and friends are invited to meet for her Funeral Mass Monday, January 15, Our Lady of Angels Church (3644 Rocky River Dr., Cleveland) at 11:30 A.M.

Georgia grew up in Lorain, Ohio.  She was the third of four children born to George and Mary Porostovsky.  Her older brothers were Allan and Norman and younger sister, Patty.

Georgia and her siblings grew up surrounded by her mother's close knit family.  She spent countless hours with her grandparents, learning to bake by watching her grandma and aunts.

And bake she could! Many of us waited all year to taste one of Georgia's hand delivered, neatly wrapped, holiday nut rolls.

Georgia met Dave Wintrick, who was fresh out of the Navy, in her senior year of high school.  Not long after that, she found herself a young wife and mother.  Daughter Lynnette arrived, followed by David, and later Matthew.

Dave's family was a big part of their lives, especially Dave's brother Bill, his wife Cecilia, and their boys, Jack, Bud, and Rich.

After a short time living on West 110th Street, where they met lifelong friend Joan McCarthy, Dave and Georgia put down roots and raised their family on Wetzel Avenue in Old Brooklyn.

Like many Cleveland neighborhoods of the time, the neighbors all looked out for each other and became like family. Many a summer day saw Georgia sunning herself on a lawn chair in the driveway along side Liz Joyce.  The warm summer evenings were spent around the picnic table with friends and family.

Anyone who knew her would tell you that Georgia kept the cleanest house in the neighborhood. If there was a trick to keeping something spotless, Georgia knew it.

Dave and Georgia moved from Wetzel to Marcie Drive where they would welcome their three grandchildren Alex, Elyse, and Michael.  Birthdays were a big event, Georgia would make everyone's favorite dinner and cake. She always had plenty of thoughtfully chosen gifts.

When Dave passed away in 2005, Georgia leaned on her family and friends, most especially her beloved Birthday Club.  Those five ladies kept her laughing and in good spirits for many, many years.

While her health waned and she became less mobile in later years, a visit from her friends or family would perk her right up.  She enjoyed reminiscing and was even known to take a dance step or two right up to the end.

Georgia's life was a celebration of perseverance and love, she gained and kept friends through every stage of her life.  We are all better for having had her in our lives and have many great memories to see us through.
