GERALD F. KENSICK, age 84, passed away February 5, 2026 in Shelby Township, Michigan but formerly lived in Chesterfield, MI and Olmsted Falls, OH. He was born in Cleveland, OH to Joseph and Ruth (Spain) Kensick and married his childhood sweetheart, Janet (nee Latimer) (deceased in 2018) in 1964 in St. Colman’s Church, then remarried again in 1997 in New Baltimore, MI. Beloved father of Robert Michael (deceased) and Debbie Kensick (Neil Hosford), brother Kenneth (deceased) and James (deceased) (Beverly) and predeceased by sister-in-law Elizabeth (Betty) Kensick (nee Krych). He is survived by many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and Buddy to Gavin and Alisa Zdrowski, whom he cherished.
Mr. Kensick was raised in St. Mel’s Parish, where he served as an altar boy and was a proud graduate of St. Edward High School. He attended Ohio State (played hockey and lacrosse) and attended Fenn College (played hockey).
He was a Journeyman Electrician and retired member of the Cleveland IBEW Local 38 and Local UAW Local 1250 Ford Cleveland Engine and was also a retired member of the Detroit IBEW 58 & Local UAW 400 Ford Romeo Engine.
Post college he continued to play hockey in Cleveland and played travel, including Canada. He was an avid Detroit Red Wings Fan. He enjoyed camping, playing cards, shooting pool, snow plowing for family and neighbors, working in his yard and hosting family parties. He also coached baseball in Brook Park, OH during the 1980’s. Jerry was the life of the party. Drinking beer, playing pool and cracking jokes. He always had a smile that lit up the room. He will be remembered as a hard working, dedicated man, always providing for his family. He stepped up to be the man his nieces and nephews needed. They all had a special place in his heart.
Funeral Mass Thursday, February 12, St. Mel Church (14436 Triskett Rd., Cleveland) at 10 A.M. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND, 4420 ROCKY RIVER DR. AT PURITAS, WEDNESDAY 4-8 P.M.
