GERALDINE M. "JERRY" CURRAN (nee Wanke), beloved wife of the late Gerald J. Sr.; loving mother of William, Thomas (Frances), Gerald J. Jr. (dec.) (Lynnore), Daniel (Jane), Sheila Flannery (Joseph), Drs. Michael (Nancy) and Neal (Diana); grandmother of 17; great-grandmother of 13; daughter of the late Florence (nee Sausse) and Elmer R. Wanke; sister of the late Willam J. Wanke. Passed away Feb. 1, 2013. Jerry attended West High School in Cleveland and, after graduation, worked for a while at the Cleveland Plain Dealer as a junior reporter. She met her husband at the St. Colman Social Dramatic Club. Jerry was a strong believer in the love of family and was a very devoted and supportive wife and mother. While raising her family, Jerry attended night classes at Kent State University Extension in order to obtain her bachelor of science education degree. During this time, she taught at several Catholic grade schools. The longest association, 27 years, was at St. Angela Merici School in Fairview Park, a career of service for which the City of Fairview Park honored her with a letter of recognition. Ever full of energy, she continued to substitute teach for many more years thereafter. Jerry always loved to have her family visit her, and she loved to visit them in return; especially when flying somewhere to see her sons or grandchildren in places like Washington, DC, Yokosuka, Japan, or Vienna, Austria. In her later years, Jerry truly became a world-class traveler, visiting such places as Buenos Aires, Argentina, and trekking all over Europe, either solo or with family and friends. She was a devout Catholic and wonderful mother. Funeral Mass Saturday, Feb. 9, St. Angela Merici Church (20970 Lorain Rd. Fairview Park) at 10 A.M.
