Gino Tosi, loving father and proud veteran, passed away on October 5, 2025, at the age of 71.
Gino is survived by his four children: Angela (Wesley, children Charlotte and Iris), Christina (William, children Francis and Sonny), Zhibek, and Dmitriy —all of whom were a constant source of joy and pride in his life. He is also survived by his brother, Amadio (Daneen).

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Gino earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Agricultural Economics. Upon completing his studies, he was commissioned as a U.S. Navy officer, serving his country honorably—winning a prestigious navigational award during a very intense time with the Iran Hostage Crisis.

Following his military service, Gino began what would become a distinguished 31-year career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). He was first recruited by the Foreign Agricultural Service in Washington, D.C., where he worked as an economist focused on credit and food assistance programs across Latin America, the U.S.–Canadian Free Trade Agreement, and foreign market development programs for U.S. dairy, livestock, and animal genetics.

For more than two decades, Gino served in the Order Formulation and Enforcement Branch of Dairy Programs, where he played a central role in nearly every major development affecting Federal Milk Marketing Orders (FMMOs). His work spanned national hearings, complex rulemaking, and assisting the U.S. Department of Justice in defending the federal milk order system before the Supreme Court. A recognized authority in his field, Gino was the primary author of nearly every Federal Order decision between 2000 and his retirement in November 2010—a legacy that continues to shape dairy policy today.

After retiring from federal service, Gino remained engaged in education and community work, following in the footsteps of his father Louis. He taught mathematics and economics at Cuyahoga Community College, volunteered as a teaching assistant for GED and English as a Second Language programs in Cleveland's inner city, and helped new immigrants and adult learners reach their goals. He also volunteered with Good Knights of Lorain County in Elyria, Ohio, building and delivering beds for children in need, and supported local food programs for families across the Cleveland area.

Proud of his Italian heritage and his Berea, Ohio upbringing, Gino found immense joy in family, friendship, and travel. One of his greatest recent experiences was journeying to Italy with his children and their families—reconnecting with his roots, meeting relatives, and sharing his love of culture, history, and gelato with his grandchildren.

Gino loved BB King, The Beatles, and a good movie pretty much any day of the week. He told dirty jokes with perfect timing, laughed loudly, and lived fully. He will be remembered for his brilliant mind, steadfast integrity, generous humor, and the deep devotion he showed to his family, his students, and his country. His legacy endures in the policies he shaped, the people he taught, and the laughter he inspired.
