Henry James Francis Dasinger (Jiggs)
First born of Henry Francis and Margaret Mary ( nee Carney). Honored Carney/Kelly cousin. Dominating brother of Daniel ( Michele, deceased), MaryBeth Warnke ( Douglas, deceased), Michael ( Andrew); Loving husband and Best friend of 60 years to Linda Mildred (nee Cunningham). Brother in law to Marianne Cunningham (deceased). Proudest Father of Megan Kalal ( David) , Henry Joseph ( Amy); Tim and Amy Hrouda (bonus children); Doting Blarney filled Poppa of Patrick, Ryan, and bff Mollie Kalal, Kylie, Henry Noah and Emersyn Dasinger, Nick and Allison Hrouda; Crazy Uncle to 6 nieces and nephews; Crazier Grand Uncle of 7 and counting. Dearest friend of Howard Meeker.
Henry was a proud graduate of John Marshall High School, Class of 1968. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served his country with pride as a Quartermaster at Fort Lee, Virginia. After fulfilling his military duties, Henry returned to Ohio to be with the love of his life, Linda Cunningham, and they eventually had two children. They shared over 50 years of marriage, love, and laughter together.
Henry spent his career working in the trucking industry, helping many businesses succeed. Juggling career and family was not always easy, but Henry helped coach his children’s soccer teams and was always there to support his children’s interests. He was so proud of the teacher and nurse that he helped raise to serve others, and loved sharing Irish traditions, especially the High Holy Day, with his family and friends.
As retirement loomed, Henry’s title transitioned from President of Buckeye Indermodal to full time Poppa, where he spent his time doting and teasing all six of his grandchildren. He loved reading them stories, attending Boy Scout events, cheering on the sidelines at soccer and baseball games, and watching his granddaughters cheer. He was extremely proud of his son and grandson for earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He was known to have the largest candy cauldron filled to the brim with personalized and seasonal M and M’s, an endless supply of Swedish Fish, and always had a new recipe up his sleeve. When he was quietly enjoying his evenings, he loved to read, watch countless “Blue Blood” Marathons, and plan the next family adventure to his happy place, Dollywood, in Tennessee.
Henry was a brilliant man. His ever present thirst for knowledge allowed him to talk to you easily, and he had the ability to make anyone he met feel right at home. He would always have a stack of books on his bedside table he was excited to tell you about and if he knew of the interests of the person he was going to visit with next, he was always at the ready.
He was an avid Ohio State University and Cleveland sports fan, and during game times he had a way to string together expletives that would make anyone in attendance stop and smile. He loved spending many years cheering on the Browns with his son, brother in law, nieces, and grandson.
His endless love, strong Catholic faith, pride in his family, friends, and heritage, will be endlessly cherished. He was gifted at malarkey, loved to plan a great party, and enjoyed singing about unicorns, green alligators, and long neck geese. He was our gold at the end of a great Irish rainbow, our truest treasure, and will be remembered fondly forever.
