ILENE L. HARDY (nee Dyke).  Born March 16, 1945 in Clinton, IA, raised in Fulton, IL, and passed away October 11, 2017 in Cleveland, OH after a long battle with leukemia. Married Richard D. Hardy on July 19, 1969 and lived together in Chicago, IL, Cincinnati, OH, Cleveland, OH and Tucson, AZ.

She is survived by her husband Richard Hardy, brothers Donald Dyke of WI, Jack Dyke of IL, sisters Verna Vining and Marge Nielsen, both of IA, Jean Smith of AZ, Carol Jenkin and Gail Thompson, both of TX.

Ilene graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in English and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.  She taught English Literature and Composition at York High School in Elmhurst, IL. She was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Westlake, OH where she was active in choir and teaching.

Her passions were her Christian faith, tennis, running, hiking, gardening and reading.  Her warmth, sense of humor, and upbeat relationship with others along with a fierce determination and competitiveness characterized her life and the reason we all loved her.

Memorial Service Friday, October 27, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (28455 Center Ridge Rd.) at 1:00 P.M. where friends may call Thursday from 5-7 P.M. and Friday from 12 Noon until time of service.  A reception will follow the service at the church.
