November 24, 1931 – May 7, 2020
INGEBORG GERTRUDE (MERCER) STAMPER (nee Bopp), age 88. Passed away May 7, 2020 following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She is survived by her children Mark Mercer (Priscilla), Eric Mercer (Marlene), Janet Mercer and Lisa Berchert (Stefan); grandmother of Andy Mercer (Christina), Alex Mercer, Michael Berchert, Daniel Berchert and Julia Berchert; great-grandmother of Sophia Mercer; and her sister Erica Walker (George). She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Gertrude Bopp, husband Ewey Stamper, brother Walter Bopp and her former husband Donald Mercer.
Ingeborg was born in Youngstown and raised in Western Pennsylvania. She married Donald Mercer in 1954. They settled in the West park Neighborhood of Cleveland and raised four children. They divorced in 1981. She married Ewey Stamper in 1985. She and Ewey were active square dancers, members of Brecksville Squares, Contra Queens and Kings and other groups. She enjoyed teaching new and non-dancers the basics of her favorite activity.
She worked for many years at Southwest General Hospital, retiring in 1997. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was an active member of Puritas Lutheran Church and later Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also a Red Hatter, enjoying many adventures with her chapter.
She was beloved by so many and will be sorely missed by her family, friends and by the many who called her "Mom".
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
