JACK MULCRONE, a member of Cleveland's Westside Irish-American community, died peacefully on the morning of July 28. He was 57. A union pipefitter, he spent many years working in the oil fields of Alaska. He also worked as a union stage hand in Cleveland. He was deeply committed to the egalitarian principles and aspirations of organized labor. He always championed the underdog, and he scorned bigotry and class privilege in all their manifestations. He also loved Irish music and lore. His masterful storytelling and sense of humor were a source of delight to all who had the good fortune to spend time in his company. He was the beloved husband of Peggy (nee O'Neill); father of Mackenzie and Noel; son of the late Margaret (nee Ginley) of Cleveland and John of County Mayo, Ireland; brother of Mick Mulcrone (Mary) and Peggy Mulcrone-Moravek (Tom); devoted uncle to Sean, Kevin and Mary Katherine Moravek; first cousin to many in Cleveland, North Carolina, and Ireland. Funeral Mass Saturday, August 1, 2009, St. Patrick Church (3602 Bridge Avenue) at 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME, 4420 ROCKY RIVER DRIVE AT PURITAS, FRIDAY 2-4 AND 7-9 P.M. Memorial contributions are sugggested to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th Street, Cleveland, OH 44119 or the Alzheimers Association of Cleveland, P.O. Box 74924, Cleveland, OH 44194.
