IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James E.
Bramhall
August 19, 1934 – September 10, 2024
JAMES EVERETT BRAMHALL was born on August 19, 1934, in Josephs Mills (Tyler County), WV at his Pappaw and Mammaw Ash's farm, the son of Charles Emery and Louise (Ash) Bramhall. He passed into glory on September 10, 2024, in North Olmsted, Ohio.
In 1942, Emery moved the family to Alliance, Ohio, where he became a foreman at the Alliance Mfg. Company. During World War II both parents worked, so Jim and his sister Betty spent their summers at their grandparents' farm in Josephs Mills - the place closest to his heart .
During his time at Alliance High School (Class of 1952) he sang in the choir, operettas, quartets, and mixed chorus, and was a member of the Air Scouts and Barons fraternity. While majoring in engineering at Kent State, he worked in the Ravenna Arsenal at night, handling heavy gauge shells. As a member of ROTC, he aced his tests and was accepted as a flight school cadet. He became a dispatcher in the Air Force and served briefly during the Korean Conflict.
After his discharge from the Air Force in 1957, Jim worked as a reservations sales agent at Capital Airlines which merged with United Airlines. Working in downtown Cleveland, Jim met Sharon Ann Sprouse, also a West Virginia native, and they married on December 22, 1962. They raised their two children, Timothy and Beth, in North Olmsted. On journeys, he often amazed his children by pointing at a cloud and making it disappear, skipping stones, and identifying Studebakers from afar.
At United Airlines, Jim worked in various capacities including senior ticket agent, Apollo reservations systems instructor, and, lastly, as an Apollo automation specialist, conducting seminars for travel agencies and educational organizations, and resolving issues throughout his region of OH, WV, PA, and KY. After 35 years of service, Jim retired in 1992, and immediately took a position in a field closest to his heart - cars! He worked five years in auto sales for Spitzer's dealership in Grafton. Tiring of working the car lots in winter, he then worked at Steve & Barry's for two years, and then transported cars in the region for Motor Corp, Sliman's, and Ganley's. He loved being on the road again.
Jim was a charter member of the Studebaker Drivers Club and a faithful member of the North Olmsted Friends Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon; children Tim (Carlina), and Beth (Bill Mize); two grandchildren, Nina and Charles, and a host of family and friends.
