90 years ago James Sainsbury was born October 31, 1934 in London, England to parents Richard and Jessie Sainsbury. His older sister Jean Lang (Harry) and brother, Ian (Edna) are both deceased. His wife, Judith, of 52 years survives. He has two daughters, Dr. Diana Glyer of Glendora, CA, and Katherine Jordan of Cincinnati, OH, and grandchildren, Adam Bradley (Becky), Jamie Iglehart of Geneva, IL, Sierra Glyer and nieces, Alison Sainsbury of Toronto, Canada, Carol Daniloff (James) of Solon, OH, Gayle Salvatore of Mentor, OH, nephews Alan Lang (Lynne) of Memphis,TN and Philip Lang (Stephanie) of Clearwater, FL. There are seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter and favorite brother-in-law William Doehring of Marysville, OH.
James came to the United States at the age of 14 and attended school in Euclid, then joined the Army at 19. He served in Berlin as Personnel Specialist for three years and enjoyed his time there before returning to Cleveland in 1956. Soon after returning to the States, he joined the Glidden Company and worked in Research as a chemist formulating paint in Strongsville until 1971 when he transferred to the Law Dept. at headquarters in Cleveland, retiring in 1996. He was grateful for his time there and for the work he did and those he worked with.
Over the years, his hobbies included: nature and wildlife photography, coin collecting, painting, reading about the American Revolution and most especially, listening to Glenn Miller and the Big Bands of the '40s and visiting Colonial Williamsburg, VA.
James passed away January 27, 2025 after a short illness. Funeral Service Thursday, January 30, at 11 A.M. in the CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS RD., where friends may call THURSDAY, 10 A.M. UNTIL TIME OF SERVICE. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to your church or a charity of your choice.
