JAMES ELLIS STRINGER, age 78, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Born on July 11, 1942 in West Virginia to Gracie (nee Tackett) and Roland Stringer, James "Jim, Jimmy, Pops" spent his days in the serene beauty of his hometown, fostering his love for automobiles and eventually meeting the woman who would become his wife of 55 years, Emma Lou Hudson. Eventually they moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he served for several years in the U.S. National Guard. Afterward, he took up cosmetology and started working at John Roberts Salon. In 1987, James opened up Frank-Ellis Hair Design in West Park where he worked until he retired in early 2020. James is survived by his wife Emma; his sons Brian (Jennifer), Tommy (Steven); his grandchildren Bianca Schoeller (Ryan), Danielle, Tony (Sam), and Noah (Lexie); great-grandchildren Sophia and Zara; his in-laws Norma Johnson Thurman (d. 2009), Rod and Shelva Ensley, Drema Hudson, Barbara Lopez, Ira Hudson (d. 2000; Mickie d. 2012), as well as numerous beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brothers Bob (Peggy) and Leonard (Carol), and his sister Lucille. The family would like to express their gratitude to The Hospice of the Western Reserve for all of their care and assistance. Services will be private, but there will be an ongoing public memorial at Edward Ellis Salon for anyone who would like to pay their respects.
