James L. Urmetz passed away unexpectedly at the age of 78 on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Jim was a beloved husband of 56 years to Kathy Urmetz (nee Ledford). He was the proud father of Cindy Castor, triplet sons Chris, Phil (Karrie), Louis (Jill), and Laurie Molnar (Chuck). Loving grandfather of Emily Ratcliff (Callyn), Brittany Urmetz, Elena Castor (Fernando Lopez, fiancé), Erika Urmetz, Sarah Urmetz (Cameron Stauffer, fiancé), Tristan Castor, Gabby Urmetz, Gracie Castor, and Julia Molnar. Great Grandfather of Carter, Axl and Halle. Brother of Louise Desefanis (Joe). Son of the late Alvin and Genevieve Urmetz (nee Pierce).
Jim was born in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from West Tech High School in 1961. Jim served in the US Army for 4 years and immediately following he began working for Federal Reserve Bank in the Fiscal Department where he retired after 30 years.
Jim enjoyed fishing and had a love of military history was generous with his stories he would tell his friends and family. He had a love of music and enjoyed the songs of smooth jazz, especially the Steely Dan band.
Jim enjoyed model railroading so much that he created an extensive model Lionel train layout that he worked on for years. He shared his passion with his friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet for his Funeral Mass Friday, May 6th at St. Brendan Church (4242 Brendan Lane, North Olmsted) at 10:00 am. Immediately following the Mass please join the family at The Aviator Event Center, 20920 Brookpark Rd. Cleveland for a reception.
