JEROME "JERRY" GILL, surrounded by his family, peacefully entered eternal rest on November 24, 2017. Jerry was born to James F. and Harriet Gill on May 19, 1925. He was the devoted husband of the late Virginia (nee Sulzmann) and Rita Gallagher (nee O'Linn); cherished father of Mary Ann Naughton (Tim), Virginia Gill (Michael Grodach), Margaret Quinn (David), Colleen Gill , Mary Beth (deceased), and Mary Bernadette (deceased); stepfather to Rita's children, Karen, Kevin, Maureen, FJ, and Danny; grandfather of Moira and Michael Quinn, Patrick and James Grodach; brother of James (deceased) Francis X. (deceased), Mary Agnes Sullivan and Phillip (deceased); uncle and great uncle to many. Jerry excelled on the track and football teams at Willoughby Union High School. Upon graduation in 1943, he flew 35 missions as a nose gunner in a B24 Liberator for the Army Air Corp in WWII. As a young husband and father, Jerry had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin. He flew with his wife, Virginia, to Lourdes, France hoping for a cure for her cancer. Jerry was a daily communicant and Mass server. He served the City of Cleveland as an Inspector and chief in the Building/Demolition Department through 1988. The homes of his children display his handiwork as he assisted them with remodeling projects. He enjoyed unwinding with a game of golf with family and friends. Funeral Mass Friday Dec. 1, Holy Trinity Church (33601 Detroit Rd.) at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD.
