JOAN A. EMERY (nee Schweitzer) age 73. Beloved wife of Paul; loving mother of Kimberly Galipo and the late Eric Emery; stepmother of Jennifer Emery; dear grandmother of Vincent Galipo (Taylor) and Jacklyn Ortiz (Anthony); great-grandmother of Hailey Rebar, Dylan Knapp, Anthony Ortiz and Ryker Galipo; daughter of the late Girtha R. (nee Mayne) and John W. Schweiter; sister of the late John W. Schweitzer; aunt of Brock Schweitzer (Mandy), Brydon Schweitzer, Brysson Schweitzer, Brett Schweitzer and Amber Schweitzer-Jones (Quin); great-aunt of Keisen Withey, Kolton Schweitzer, Adler Schweitzer and Causha Withey. 

Joan was a proud graduate of Olmsted Falls, where she contributed to the community in more ways than one. Her dedication to education led her to play a vital role in naming one of the local schools, Lenox, a testament to her commitment to nurturing future generations. Professionally, Joan excelled as a bookkeeper and accountant, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and an unwavering work ethic.

Outside of her career, Joan's passions flourished. She found joy in camping, where she would immerse herself in activities such as basket weaving, Indian arts, and crafts. Her creativity blossomed through drawing, and her heart was enraptured by the melodies of classic music, with Bob Seger holding a special place in her musical repertoire. The written word was another avenue through which Joan expressed herself, as she loved to read and explore new worlds in her books.

Joan’s home was filled with love—especially from her three beloved cats: Noel, Duma, and Smudge. To her, these cats were not merely pets; they were family. Noel, in particular, held a special place in her heart, and she treated her furry companions with a nurturing spirit akin to that of a devoted mother.

During the holiday season, Joan transformed her home into a haven of warmth and joy, welcoming her extended grandchildren—Ronny, BT, Ryder, Jonavan, Pomps, Macayla, Joey and Tyler—into her loving embrace. These gatherings were the highlight of her year, as she skillfully prepared holiday dinners and created lasting memories with those she adored. Each celebration was a testament to her generous spirit and her deep love for family, making the holidays incredibly special for everyone involved.

Joan A. Emery leaves behind a legacy of kindness and creativity that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memories will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who carry forward her passion for life, love for music, and affection for the simple joys that make life truly beautiful.
