JOAN "JOANIE" HELEN COUGHLIN (nee McDonnell) was an angel to all she encountered. On February 12, 1936, God gave Mary and Joseph McDonnell the gift of Joan, who embodied faith, selflessness and love in a way that stands in a class of its own. A loving daughter, Joan was brought on this earth to be a nurse, caring for countless patients throughout her life, starting with her parents. The ultimate sister, Joan adored Mary Kay Roddy (deceased), Nancy Morgan (deceased), Dolores Ritt and Kathleen Koenig (deceased). Married to her best friend John for 56 years, Joan embodied everything it means to be a wife. Together, they made life golden, teaching their family and friends the meaning of love, and now continuing their unbreakable bond up above. A steadfast mom to Colleen (deceased) (Jim Neville) and Molly, Joan lived her life in the image of the Blessed Mother, always personifying a lighthouse to her girls, guiding them through the journey of life and being there for them no matter the situation. A grandma and so much more, Joan made the absolute most of every day with her seven grandchildren, bringing constant joy to Dominic, Sean and Dena Neville, and John, Katie, Martin and Coletta Fanta. From the chocolate chip cookies to the afghans to the game nights and 24/7 car and phone service, Joan took the title "grandma" to a whole new level. Adored by her many nieces and nephews, Aunt Joanie's hotline was always ready to take their calls, which never failed to entertain. A friend to any and all she encountered, Joan's small acts of kindness have made a lasting impact on relationships rooted in loyalty, laughs and love. She was always there, and will never be forgotten.  Passed away July 29, 2020.  Funeral Mass Monday, August 3, Our Lady of Angels Church (3644 Rocky River Dr.) at 10 A.M. (facemasks required) (the Funeral Mass will also be live-streamed on Chambers Funeral Homes Facebook page). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.  Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND, 4420 ROCKY RIVER DR. AT PURITAS, SUNDAY 6-8 P.M. where social distancing will be observed and facemasks are required.
