The name Tod Huffman is synonymous with theater.  One cannot help thinking of one without the other.  One of the earliest productions with which Tod was associated was for Youngstown State University's production of Three Penny Opera .  Tod went on to become the technical director and lighting designer for the Youngstown Playhouse, a role he played throughout the 1970s.  Tod earned an Arthur award for his portrayal of Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew .  Tired of being constantly poor, Tod went on to earn a bachelor's degree in computer programming landing a job with Macy's Great Lakes Data Center in Elyria in 1982.  The move to Cleveland allowed Tod to become one of Cleveland's best known stage managers.  Most of his work was at the Beck Center for the Arts where he stage-managed most of the musicals for the late '90s through the early 2000s.  A special favorite of Tod's was the Beck Center's production of Sweeney Todd .  In addition to the Beck Center, Tod worked at Dobama Theater, where one of his favorite plays was A Perfect Ganesh working alongside Ruben and Dorothy Silver; Cassidy Theater, Cuyahoga Community College, where he worked with one of his favorite directors, Dana Snyder; Clague Playhouse, which afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with Ron Newell, as well as many smaller venues.  It was Tod who stage-managed Viktor Schrekengost's 100 ^th birthday celebration.  Tod is remembered by his husband of 5 years and partner of 48 years, James R. Crowe; his three cats, Lilac, Violet and Periwinkle; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Larry Fiedler, formerly of Hubbard; his niece, Holly Fiedler of North Carolina; his niece, Paula and her husband, James Cummins of Powell, Ohio; and their children, Porter, Julia, Andie and Jonas. Tod was preceded in death by his parents John Tod Huffman, Sr. and Dorothy Huffman.
