JOHN J. "JACK" BURKE II, age 89, beloved husband of Judy (nee Post); loving father of Brittan DiSanto (Fred) and John III; caring grandfather of Anthony "T.J." DiSanto; son of the late Lucille and John Burke Sr.; brother of David (Betsy), Catherine (deceased), Joan Kaelin, Kenneth (deceased) and Lucille Dobeck (deceased); uncle and great-uncle of many. Jack was very close to his dear cousin, Kay deLange. Jack graduated from Cathedral Latin High School Class of 1950 where he was a merit scholar and received his undergraduate from Kent State University Class of 1958. He also attended the Wharton School of Management. Proud U.S. Army veteran - Korea. Jack was a gun-carrying medic on the front line and was awarded two Bronze Stars one of which was for Valor and he was also a Purple Heart recipient and received numerous other awards. He was a Sgt. 1st Class, 179th Regimental Combat Team and 45th Infantry Division where he served three campaigns in Korea. He was extremely involved in the community which included being former President of the Kidney Foundation of Ohio, St. John West Shore Osteopathic Board, former Chairman of the Board of Medical Mutual of Ohio, the Cleveland Police Athletic League, and longtime member of the Union Club. He was a proud Irishman and honored as Irishman of the Year for the Cleveland Athletic Club where he was a former president. He was a member of Westwood Country Club and was a former Westlake City Councilman. Jack was a kind and generous man with a commitment to his community. He strived to make a difference in the lives of others. Passed away November 30, 2021. Relatives and friends are invited to meet for his Funeral Mass Friday, December 3, St. Ladislas Church (2345 Bassett Rd., Westlake) at 11 A.M. where friends may call FRIDAY 10:15 A.M. UNTIL TIME OF MASS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Ignatius High School, 1911 W. 30th St., Cleveland, OH 44113 or Magnificat High School, 20770 Hilliard Blvd., Rocky River, OH 44116.
