JOSEPHINE M. MASTERSON (nee Kosmerl) age 96 of Indianapolis, IN passed away Jan. 23, 2019. She was born in Cleveland, OH on May 31, 1922 to the late Louise and Frank Kosmerl; beloved wife of the late William Grover; mother of Jean T. Masterson, DPM (Carter Williams) of Andalusia, AL, Mary Cataldo (John) of Birmingham, MI and the late William Gregory; grandmother of John Reed Cataldo (Renata), Paige Welby Cataldo and Mary Katherine Dowdy (Tyler); great-grandmother of one; sister of Alice Stephens of Oakton, VA and the late Frank Kosmerl; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She graduated from Collinwood High School and Ursuline College. During WWII she was employed at Reliance Electric in Cleveland. She married William in 1951 and they settled in Avon Lake, OH then Rochester, MI where she was a docent at Meadowbrook Hall. As an Irish genealogist, she is most remembered for her published volumes of reconstructed lost Irish census records. These works continue to be used as a key reference by people all over the world searching their Irish roots. Visitation 11:00 A.M. THURSDAY JANUARY 31 in the CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND 4420 ROCKY RIVER DR. AT PURITAS followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE AT 12 NOON. Private Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery.
