JOY LEE CROWDER (nee Collins), age 83, went home to be with the Lord on May 25, 2021 at Riverview Pointe Care Center in Olmsted Falls, OH following a five-year battle with dementia.  Born on November 14, 1937 in the coal-mining town of Wheelwright, Floyd County, Kentucky, Joy was the daughter of the late Mary Alice (nee Branham) and Nick Collins.

On January 3, 1959, she married Sherman Crowder, Jr. in Cleveland, Ohio and made her lifetime home there.  She was a long-time employee and manager of the downtown location of Hough Bakery, a well-known fixture of Cleveland's culinary scene.  Her vibrant personality was on display as a front-desk clerk at the Berkshire on Edgewater Drive – the place she called home for about 30 years prior to her admission to long-term care in 2016.

Joy never knew an instrument she could not teach herself to play.  During her life, she played the banjo, the harpsichord and guitar.  She loved using these talents to serve the Lord and was a long-time member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 3238 West 105 ^th Street, Cleveland, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters:  Billy and Robert Collins, Jewell Fay (Collins) Copley, Jesse Arlene (Collins) Laird, Pearl Arthaline Collins.  She is survived by two half-sisters and a half-brother:  Essie Jean Moore, Columbia, Kentucky; Miriam McVay, South Carolina; and David Lilly Collins, Oak Hill, Ohio.  A host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
