Juliet (Julie) Barkley, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith and devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by Harry, her husband of 66 years. Julie was a loving mother to Anne Fitzgerald (Tim), Bill (Sharon), Mary Basch (Jeff), Laura Warrington (Marc) and Michael (Amy); proud Grammy of Patrick, Maggie (Todd Simpson), Gennie (Sean Barber),Gabe (Cristin), Aaron, Amber, Samantha (Alan Darer), Katie, Abigail (Mike Moshiri), Charlie, Sarah, Kevin, Caroline and Emily; great-grandmother of Colette, Liam, Leo, Nora, Ella, Avery and Jack; sister of Anne (Tom)Anderson and the late Mary (Jim) Mullen.
Julie attended St Augustine Academy where she made many lifelong friends and had many fond memories. She graduated from Rosary College in Chicago, the first college graduate in her family. After college, Julie and Harry married and began their life together. They created a loving home where family came first, and their many friends and extended family were always welcome. Julie took great joy in raising her children and was actively involved at St Christopher Parish. She was a devoted volunteer to her children’s many activities, and also community organizations, including many years with Providence House and the Discovery Shop.
Julie also loved her rosebushes, playing bridge and was a devoted Jeopardy fan. Julie and Harry loved spending time with their growing family and visiting children and grandchildren as they spread out around the country. She organized family reunions so children and grandchildren could vacation together.They made it a priority to attend their grandchildren’s milestones and traveled to many baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations, graduations and weddings.Though Julie will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she is reunited with Harry. Together again, they leave behind a family strengthened by their example and forever grateful for the love they shared so generously.
Funeral Mass Friday August 14, St Christopher Church, 20141 Detroit Rd, Rocky River at 11 AM, where friends and family may call in the Gathering Space, 10 AM until time of Mass. Reception lunch in Mary’s Room immediately following. Interment at Lakewood Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. stjude.org
