Kathy Trapp, daughter of the late Frank Trapp and Ann Stegmaier Trapp was born on July 27th, 1951 in Cleveland, OH. She lived in the West Park area until her family purchased a home on Wareham drive in Parma, OH in 1955. Kathy along with her sisters Sue and Elaine made the move there together and were soon joined by 3 younger brothers, Joe, Jim and John in a space that rapidly became too small. In 1963, with brother number 4, Chuck, on the way, the family moved across the Parma circle to Ackley Road where in 1969 she gained a 3rd sister, Lori and officially became the oldest of the 8 Trapp children of Parma.
Kathy attended St. Charles school where she was quickly identified as top in her class. She exceeded her peers and was moved ahead skipping a grade, and eventually graduating from Valley Forge High School at the age of 16. While Kathy found great success academically, she also flourished athletically and was an avid swimmer, working as a lifeguard at the local public pool. She was top on the swim team growing up and enjoyed the competitive nature of being part of a team. This competitive nature and interest in Sports quickly moved to the game of golf where Kathy once again surpassed many of her peers. A long- time member of Spring Valley Country Club in Elyria, OH Kathy made friendships that lasted a lifetime and established herself as an above standard golfer and member of that community.
Professionally she held herself to the same high standards and worked aggressively to establish herself as a go to Court Reporter in the Lorain County Courts for over 4 decades. She primarily worked for an established firm, Tom Clemento and Associates until she purchased that business. Kathy worked countless hours to create a thriving and respected firm led by herself, an independent female business owner. Her business was her passion and with great reluctance she officially retired at the age of 72.
Kathy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Ames Family Hospice Center of Westlake on Tuesday, September 3rd where she received the most amazing care from their incredible staff. She fought hard and once again exceeded expectations this time of the medical experts by fighting courageously until the very end. In addition to the people at hospice her family would like to thank their extended family and dear friends for their support during these difficult days. Words cannot accurately express the family's appreciation for their dear cousin Mary Martin for her incredible selflessness and dedication to Kathy each and every day until her death. We are grateful not only for Mary's attention and care for Kathy, but the emotional support and guidance provided to her siblings throughout.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Ann Trapp and is survived by her 7 siblings, 17 nieces and nephews, 29 great nieces and nephews, godparents, aunts and many dear cousins and friends.
