IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathryn L.
Lusnia
January 31, 1986 – November 25, 2024
Kathryn (Kate) Lusnia was born on January 31, 1986 in Cleveland, Ohio, the third of five daughters born to John and Dorothy Prokay. After her family moved to Lorain County, Kate graduated from North Ridgeville High School and attended Remington College in preparation for a career in medical billing.
Kate is survived by her husband Kurt Lusnia, and her two children Emma and Sean, all of whom she loved dearly and of whom she was very proud. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2019, Kate faced ever increasing challenges to her physical health. Her remarkable character and strength of spirit was an inspiration to all her family, relatives and friends as she faced that adversity with grace, perseverance, and always a positive attitude. Her courage in the face of such a physical hardship truly set an example for those who knew her.
Kate enjoyed so many things in life, including vacations to the ocean with her many family members. She would switch out her motorized wheelchair for a "beach buggy" type wheelchair and eagerly joined in the fun on the beach and in the surf. Her lifelong love of dogs kept her busy, and her little chihuahua Gizmo was a constant presence in her lap or on walks around her home. Kate enjoyed painting, but according to her family, she never seemed to like the results nearly as much as her family did!
Kate and husband Kurt were a team in so many ways. Whether it be the seemingly too frequent trips to the doctors and hospitals, or even the simple trips to local stores and restaurants, they were always together and managed to find happiness in all that they did. Kate would even join her husband from time to time on the local golf courses and ride along with Kurt to make certain his scores did not include too many "mulligans."
Kate devoted herself to her children, always making sure each of them were well cared for both at home and in their educational needs. She accomplished all these things in her 38 years, despite the physical handicaps that she faced. Alongside her devoted husband Kurt, who constantly helped and supported her through the mounting physical difficulties of life, Kate was truly an inspiration for all. The beauty of her life will be remembered forever.
