IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kevin F.
Levasseur
April 29, 1951 – June 23, 2025
KEVIN F. LEVASSEUR, age 74, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, surrounded by family and following a life well led. A long-time automotive industry executive, Kevin was an adoring and beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. After facing a series of health issues, Kevin passed comfortably in hospice, displaying his good spirit and wit to the very end.
Kevin was born in Chisholm, Minnesota, on April 29, 1951. As a young child, his family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where his father was a pharmaceutical executive and his mother a nurse and homemaker for Kevin, his three sisters and brother. His brother, Peter, passed away early in life, instilling in Kevin a sense of compassion, empathy and faith that would serve as the hallmarks of his life.
He graduated from Brebeuf Preparatory High School in Indianapolis in 1969. Immensely proud and thankful for his Jesuit education, he took great joy in watching his son and grandson follow in the tradition at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He matriculated to General Motors Institute (n/k/a Kettering University) in Flint, Michigan, where he proudly served as President of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and met friends for life, graduating in 1974. There he would also meet his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Ann Levasseur (née Small), then a nursing student at the Hurley School of Nursing. With Barbara at his side, he proceeded to attend the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, obtaining his Masters in Business Administration in 1975.
Kevin began his career at Ford Motor Company's world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. In 1985, he left Ford to join automotive supplier Magna International in Toronto, Ontario. It would prove to be the first of many stops for Kevin and his family as he climbed the executive ladder with such suppliers as Magna subsidiary Cosma International, TRW, Inc., and Joan Fabrics. Never at a loss for a new adventure, Kevin's career took him around the world and his family on extended stays in King City, Ontario; Orchard Lake, Michigan; Medina, Ohio; Lake Orion, Michigan; Hollis, New Hampshire; and Cedar Falls, Iowa. In the final chapter of his successful career, Kevin retired as Chief Executive Officer of Engineered Products Company in Waterloo, Iowa in December, 2015. He and Barbara would soon return to Ohio to be with those closest to their hearts: their son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
He believed in sacrifice and hard work: a genuine man as at ease in a suit and tie as he was in a pair of grubby clothes working in the yard or the garage. He was a man of commitment and deep faith: always actively involved in his local Catholic church and dedicated to using his many gifts and blessings for the betterment of those around him, whether his family and those he barely knew. He was a gentleman to the core, and known to all as a man of good humor. To be teased by Kevin was to be loved by Kevin. He was a motorcycle enthusiast since the time he was a young man, and enjoyed thousands of rides with friends and family over the years. In his later years, he relished his time as a "hockey grandpa" and was a fixture at his grandchildren's various school and sporting events. He once caught a beautiful Northern Pike out of Side Lake in Minnesota when he wasn't busy pulling his son's line out of the motor.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara, and son Eric B. Levasseur (Meaghan). He is the proud grandfather of Clare and Ryan Levasseur; brother to Margaret Schervish (Phil, deceased), Marie Krueckeberg (Steve) and Judy McClellan (Mark); and uncle to Anice Schervish-Chenault, Katie Jordan (Dave), Samuel Krueckeberg (Jessica), Mathias Krueckeberg (Kiley), Jackie Larson (Dan) and Jolene McClellan. He was predeceased by five people he cherished: his parents, Warren and Rose Ellen Levasseur; his brother, Peter Levasseur; and his father- and mother-in-law, Gordon and Helen Small.
Kevin will be welcomed home at a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at St. Mary of the Falls Church (25615 Bagley Road, Olmsted Falls). Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN ROAD AT STEARNS ROAD, MONDAY, JUNE 30, from 4:00-7:00 P.M.
