IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence M.
"Larry" Maline, Sr.
January 21, 1947 – March 15, 2021
LAWRENCE M. "LARRY" MALINE, SR. age 74. Beloved husband of Kathryn (nee Materna); loving father of Lawrence M. Jr. (Barbara) and Lauren Palange (Michael); adored grandpa of Caroline, Andrew, Alexandra and Jack; brother of Joan Aguilar (deceased), John, Timothy and Joseph (deceased); uncle and great-uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Larry was a proud Vietnam-era U.S. Navy veteran, and was honored to represent and serve his fellow veterans as a National Service Officer for AMVETS for over 25 years. He was an avid reader with a special interest in WWII history. He found his stress relief in beating up the weeds in his meticulously planned and cared for garden-which seemed to grow a little bigger each year despite his insistence that its dimensions were unchanged. When he wasn't in his garden, Larry could often be found in the kitchen cooking, humming along to his favorite music from artists like ZZ Top, the Stones, Pink Floyd, and ELO. He loved to cook for his family and never followed a recipe, always emphasizing that it's okay to deviate from the plan. Larry was a fair-weather fisherman and typically enjoyed the company of his brothers more than the sport itself. He was always willing to help family or a friend in need, and firmly believed there wasn't much that couldn't be fixed by Gorilla Glue or a cold Budweiser. He had a sense of humor that could be an acquired taste, and if he messed with you, you knew you were his buddy.
Larry bravely faced his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer but accepted that his final battle could not be won. He passed away comfortably at home surrounded by his family on March 15, 2021. He will be dearly missed, especially by his Kat, Bean Man and Tootsie. Funeral Mass Saturday, March 20, St. Patrick Church (West Park) at 9:30 A.M. where social distancing will be observed and facemasks required.
