Linda Lou (Carl) Hall, 86, passed on December 17, 2025.

Linda was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 11, 1939. As a young person, she enjoyed time in theater and Girl Scouts, but most loved her days spent swimming in pools or Lake Michigan at her parents' cottage. She graduated from East Lansing High School in 1957 before attending Albion College and Western Michigan University, where she studied Speech Therapy and learned from Charles Van Riper, a leader in therapies to correct stuttering. Linda was always ready to share her skills in communication. Upon graduating, she worked with elementary students in the Muskegon schools. There, while subbing on a bowling team, she met Gordon, her husband of 61 years. After marrying they moved to Buffalo, New York and later Detroit, Michigan where they started their family.

Family and their many activities were a top priority for Linda. She was a leader in PTA and athletic Booster bingo, volunteered for parties and field trips as often as the opportunities arose and helped out at her daughter’s preschool and her sons’ library times. She knew her children's friends well and treated them as extended family. Linda always said that her four kids were so very different from herself and each other, but she was very proud of them for finding their own way to be happy and successful. She valued life-long learning as a quilter and gardener, and found employment in a jewelry store and with the US Federal Census. She counseled and befriended wives whose husbands were serving on Coast Guard ice breakers with Gordon and other residents in her assisted living community. When her own kids were grown, she and Gordon took to "front porch sitting", chatting up neighbors and caring for the younger moms in the neighborhood who asked for advice or needed a break. She went on to be a wonderful Granma to Lauren, Hunter, Grayson, Claudia, Hannah, Nolan, and Kelsey.

Linda is survived by her four children, Kim, Brian (Susan), Kris (Tim) Fitz, and Todd (Rachel), grandchildren, brothers, sisters, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, her parents, Rexford J. and Amy Lou (Shepard) Carl, sisters Connie and Debbie, brother James, step mother, Kay, and numerous friends from all the places she lived.

The family will conduct a private memorial service at a later time to honor Linda’s wishes, but would like to thank the staff at Ames Family Hospice House of Hospice of the Western Reserve for providing Linda’s care in her final days and making her passing as comfortable as possible.
