LORRAINE "TINA" JOSEPHINE SLAVIN (nee Weiksner), age 72, passed away on September 18, 2017 at O'Neill Healthcare in North Olmsted after a gallant 13-year battle with cancer.

Lorraine was born in New York City on January 27, 1945. All of her friends and relatives called her "Tina." Her family relocated to the Cleveland area in 1950 where she graduated from Jane Adams High School in 1963.

Tina married her loving husband, Ed, in 1964. They were almost joined at the hip since marrying. It is hard to find a photo without both of them in it.   Whenever they had free time, they were together enjoying life, pursuing their goals and interests as a loving team. Shortly after marrying, Tina became employed at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (MetLife) where she worked her way up from a clerical position to Branch Administrator. She worked at about 6 different branch offices throughout northeast Ohio during her 33-year tenure. She had elected to forego college so her husband could attend college. Tina took early retirement in 1995 at age 50 to assist Ed with his problems associated with multiple sclerosis. Tina and Ed celebrated their 53 rd wedding anniversary on May 23, 2017.

Tina drove and rode motorcycles for about thirty years and was a member of the Goldwing Roadriders Association. She also enjoyed downhill skiing throughout Ohio, New York and Colorado for about 15 years then started golfing. Tina collected antiques for 30 years, made purchases at numerous auctions and antique stores both statewide and nationwide. She collected numerous Occupied Japan and other name-worthy figurines as well as MetLife "Snoopy" items. She was a member of the Wayne County Historical Society.

Tina was an excellent cook and developed a collection of over 1,000 categorized recipes. She was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. The main item on her "bucket list" was to go to the Holy Lands and she accomplished this with her friends and fellow parishioners of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (Wooster) in 2009.

Tina enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a very friendly, outgoing person who put other's thoughts and feelings above her own. She was a good conversationalist and never had a problem meeting new people and making them feel very comfortable around her. Her cup was always half full and she never complained about anything. She always had a positive outlook on life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lottie Weiksner, and her sister, Janice Russo. She is survived by her loving husband, Ed; brothers Richard (Susan, deceased) of Hurricane, UT, Thomas (Rose Ann) of Independence, OH, Joseph (Diane) of Cleveland, OH and Gerald (Deborah) of Quaker City, OH. She was an aunt of 17 nieces and nephews and great-aunt of 18.
