IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lucy Lang
Sekerka
May 15, 1933 – July 3, 2024
LUCY LANG SEKERKA, beloved wife of James (deceased) and mother to Rachelle Sekerka (Michael Eissfeld) and Leslie Sekerka (William Jenkins), left us on July 3, 2024. She is also survived by her grandson Adam Bangert (Anne), great grandsons Oliver and James, and grand-dog George. Lucy was a gem from the Greatest Generation, born in Granger Township (Medina, OH). Her devotion to history, music, literature, and education left an enduring legacy. Known for her steadfast determination and strong character, she had a desire to make significant contributions to her community. As leader of the Lakewood Historical Society and Curator of the Old Stone House she helped to safeguard the museum's preservation. Her inspiration led to the creation of a war memorial in Lakewood Park honoring local veterans. She conducted all of the research and ensured that the monument was erected so that future generations would remember those who served. Lucy was a genealogist, an artist, and author, completing her first book at the age of 90. She had a cheerful heart, a welcoming smile, and was always interested in learning. Committed to being a kind neighbor and good citizen, Lucy also took the time to find the beauty in each day, truly loving life and those around her. A family gathering will be held at a later date. In her memory, donations can be made to the Granger Historical Society.
