MARGARET L. "MARGIE" SMITH (nee Newman), age 98, beloved wife of the late Palmer Smith; loving mother of Donna Leary (Alex, deceased), James (deceased) (Elizabeth), Thomas (Toni), Mary Beth, and Roger (Lisa); loving grandmother of Patrick (Laurel, deceased), Michele Poelking (Jason), Michael (Kelly), Elizabeth, Joseph (Nichole), James (Marija), Hannah Sharnsky (Brian), Zacharias, Brok (Gina), Luke, and Calum; great-grandmother of Madeline, Julia, Benjamin, Oliver (deceased), Morgan, Annabel, Nathan, Jameson, and Alexandra; dear sister of James Newman (deceased) (Betty Ann) and Donald Newman (Iris) (both deceased); dear aunt and friend of many. Margie worked for the Cuyahoga County Treasurer for 14 years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed traveling and being with family and friends. Margie passed away peacefully on February 5, 2024 surrounded by her family, She was a beautiful woman, who loved her family fiercely and lived her faith.  Relatives and friends are invited to meet for Margie's Funeral Mass on Monday, February 12, St. Mark Church (15800  Montrose Ave.) at 10 A.M.  Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to your favorite charity.
